UPR Submissions
SDCC-AP has worked on two joint UPR Submissions with Nationality For All and other organizations.
Statelessness and Dignified Citizenship Coalition Asia Pacific ((SDCC) with Equality Now, the Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights, the Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion, Nationality for All, made a joint submission to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on the right to nationality and human rights issues related to statelessness in Brunei Darussalam. This submission highlights two main concerns: gender discrimination in the Brunei Nationality Act, which undermines women’s equal rights to nationality, and racial discrimination within the Act, which poses significant challenges for certain racial groups in acquiring nationality. The report aims to shed light on these issues and advocate for necessary reforms to protect human rights and ensure equal nationality rights in Brunei Darussalam.
Nationality for All and the Statelessness and Dignified Citizenship Coalition – Asia Pacific made a joint submission to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) addressing the right to nationality and human rights challenges related to statelessness in Bhutan. This report was developed in close collaboration with a Bhutanese activist specialising in nationality rights, statelessness, and refugee issues.This submission focuses on two key issues: childhood statelessness and discrimination based on ethnicity.
Nationality for All, Central Asian Network on Statelessness and the Statelessness and Dignified Citizenship Coalition – Asia Pacific made a joint submission to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) addressing the right to nationality and human rights challenges related to statelessness in Kazakhstan. This report was developed in close collaboration with a activists based in the country specialising in nationality rights, statelessness, and refugee issues.
